Biography
Michelle began working for the firm in 2000 as paralegal manager to Richard L. Robertson. Michelle has an extensive legal background of more than 30 years’ experience in a variety of practice areas. Her paralegal work has focused on civil litigation in state, federal and bankruptcy courts. She has assisted attorneys in all phases of civil litigation, bankruptcy, personal injury, insurance defense and workers compensation from inception through discovery and trial, including document examination and management, drafting pleadings and discovery, handling electronic discovery and filings in state, federal, bankruptcy, workers compensation and appellate courts, fact investigation and deposition and trial preparation.
In addition to her paralegal work, Michelle supervises paralegals and other staff, trains new employees and manages team workflow. She is responsible for all firm billing (invoices and e-billing) and monitors accounts receivables (A/R) and WIP reports, creates new cases in the firm’s case management software and audits billable time for all attorneys and staff.
Prior to relocating to Charlotte and joining the firm in 2000, Michelle worked as a litigation paralegal for various Los Angeles area law firms involving multi-district mass tort litigation, complex business disputes, insurance defense, class actions, mergers, environmental disputes, appellate and personal injury cases.
Michelle earned her Associate’s Degree with honors in paralegal technology at Cerritos College in Cerritos, California through its ABA-approved program. She is a North Carolina Certified Paralegal through the North Carolina State Bar, a Member of the North Carolina Paralegal Association, Inc., Metrolina Paralegal Association and a Member of the North Carolina Bar Association Paralegal Division. She has attended numerous North Carolina State Bar CLE’s focused on litigation and law practice management.
